Response to: “What are the tips and tricks to successfully potty train a 3 year old non-verbal autistic girl?”I had a non-verbal toddler and I tried to potty train him before he was ready because everyone else told me I should. If you try and things aren’t going well, it’s okay to stop and try again in a few months. Make it a very no pressure situation. You may also see success with going pee, but then they will refuse to poop on the potty. There was a year gap between my son going pee all by himself and when he finally went poop by himself. We ended up offering a brownie bite every time he went poop on the potty. I have zero regrets. 😄
Response to: “Salads...”I love to use the preshredded cabbage mix that you can buy at the store in the salad section to create vinaigrette based coleslaws. I use 3 Tbls Olive oil and 2 Tbls acid as my base for a vinaigrette. For example, 3 Tbls Olive oil and 2 Tbls lime juice mixed with cilantro, sliced green onion, and salt to taste makes a great Mexican coleslaw to serve with tacos. Olive oil, balsamic vinegar, parsley or basil makes a nice salad to go with pasta dishes.
Response to: “How do you get slime off the carpet?!”If it’s homemade slime made with glue, warm water will work. If it’s store bought, try picking off as much as you can then use vinegar to dissolve it.
Response to: “looking for ideas for a *complicated* Halloween handout 🎃”A few years ago we did moon pies taped to wooden skewers. Stuck the skewers in the ground in our front yard with a sign to pick one. Decorated the area with skeletons and fairy lights.

Response to: “Favorite pie recipe recommendations please!”This has become a favorite pie in our house every Thanksgiving. It can be a little tart, to sweeten it up, replace the lime and lime juice with oranges and orange juice. https://www.bonappetit.com/recipe/cranberry-lime-pie
Response to: “Can we start a big thread to talk about books?”Princess Academy by Shannon Hale is a hidden gem. Great for middle school age kids. It sounds like your typical, “I want to be a princess” tale, but soon turns into why education is so important. And how ignorance is used to control others. But there’s also some fun magic woven throughout. Fablehaven by Brandon Mull is an amazing series. A brother and sister are sent to live with relatives for the summer only to discover the nature preserve they live on is actually a magical creatures preserve.
Response to: “Do any of you have any good websites, or recipe books for diabetics? My hobby is pre-diabetic and I have never changed my diet to accommodate anything before. Any tips on foods that help?”I really like this app https://apps.apple.com/us/app/klinio-health-weight-loss/id1511958049\ It gives you all your meals for the week and the recipes are pretty easy. You can customize your preferences and swap out recipes you don’t like with ones you’ll actually eat. And it creates a shopping list for the week. You fill out some health information and it customizes the calorie count and all the macros without you having to worry about any of it.
