What is your favorite ebook reader?

I’ve always preferred a physical book, but I’ve been trying to read more lately, so I’m looking into e-readers. For those of you who use one, what is your favorite?

I have a Kindle Paperwhite which I like. It’s the only reader I’ve had. But I use my phone to read from just as often since I always have it with me. And I have some reading apps like hoopla on my phone that don’t transfer over to my kindle.

      • rituAnother vote for the Kindle Paperwhite - I do love physical books but the Kindle is so convenient (I also use the Libby app to borrow ebooks from the library)
      • rachelAnother vote for the kindle paperwhite. I love that I can adjust the light to warm or cool. I use the warm light when I’m reading before bed. I couple that with overdrive from my local library to check out ebooks, and it’s the best! But now I might need to check out the Libby app.
      • ritu@rachel oh Libby is just the Overdrive app - same thing :)
      • christybAlso get the Hoopla app which uses your library account but has a different selection of ebooks and audio books available. Music and movies can also be borrowed. And I love that there is no waiting for any titles, simply monthly and daily limits set by your library. So one title could be checked out by dozens of people at a time. But I often get the message that the collective daily borrow limit for my library has been reached so I have to wait til the next day to try again.

Not an e-reader, but I use apps on my phone, so I always have my books with me. My favorite is the Libby app. It’s free, through my library, and has regular books & audio books.

      • chelsie-riosI do this too! But I find I get distracted too easily. I go to read my book but then end up checking email and scrolling social media. I’m hoping I’ll do better with an e-reader.
      • jujubeeI’m glad to know I’m not the only one who falls victim to this. 😄

I have a kindle paper white as well and really like it. My understanding is that the only difference between the paper white and the regular kindle is that the paper white is waterproof and was a warm light option (I’d have to double check though) So if those features don’t seem worth it to you- go with the traditional and save some $

      • chelsie-riosI like to read in the tub so waterproof sounds amazing!
